While approaching the last stages of graduation, a lot of students feel somewhat confused about what steps to take next. There’s no doubt every student aspires for a bright career but as is often the case, most are not aware about the right pathways and lament in their later life. This in turn causes students to pick from the most common courses, taking them down a road that ultimately leads to nowhere in particular amid cut throat competition.

There are various other competitive exams in the government sector that a student can appear for, apart from the ones that generally we aren’t aware of.

Listed below are some government job exams that are generally overlooked by the Indian public. Although less popular, these exams are extremely effective in their selection process.Also, they have a better success rate than the other exams due to lesser competition.

NABARD – National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development Examination

NABARD Grade A & NABARD Grade B

The NABARD Grade A post holds a very respected position in the country. NABARD is a National Bank and because of that, there are various advantages to being a NABARD Grade A officer.

The NABARD Grade B and NABARD Grade A exams are pretty similar. The only difference between the two is that there’s an extra paper involved in the second phase of the NABARD Grade B exam.

The extra paper is an analytical Paper based on the subjects of Development Economics, Statistics, Finance, and Management. The one who is able to clear the NABARD Grade B exam becomes a NABARD Grade B officer. That said, you should note that the Grade B officers are hierarchically superior to their Grade A counterparts.

In general, NABARD announces a total annual vacancy of 150 (approximately), for the Grade A officer post under various categories.

Age Eligibility

You must be somewhere between the ages of 21 and 30 years as of 01.01.2021, i.e., for you to be able to take the exams, your date of birth should lie between the dates of 02.01.1990 and 01.01.2000.

Educational Qualification 

The result of your final term/semester/year end examination of the your latest educational degree must be declared on or before the 1st of January of the year of the NABARD Grade A exam.

NABARD Salary:  66,864/-

RBI- Reserve Bank of India Examination

  • RBI Grade B
  • RBI Assistant

RBI Grade B is one of the most noteworthybanking related exams conducted across the nation.

The exams are conducted annually by the RBI to choose the most suitable candidates for the posts of RBI Grade B officer. With that said, the RBI Grade B Officer post is one of the most prestigious ones in the country.

The exam is basically divided into 3 Phases. The first two phases consist of  written exams, whereas the third phase involves personal interviews. The RBI Grade B Officers’job isto keep the nation’s economy stable by creating policies and regulations for Indian Banks, as well as maintaining the nation’s money supply.

Age Eligibility

  • Your age must be above 21 years but must not have touched the 30th year.
  • If you have aPh.D. degree, the upper age limit is 34, whereas for M.Phil. degree holders its 32 years.
  • If you belong the category of SC or ST, then there is a provision for you to have your upper age limit relaxed up to a maximum of 5 years.

Qualification: You should have 60% marks in Graduation or 55% in Post-Graduation (50% for SC/ST/PwBD applicants).

RBI Salary: 77,208

SEBI- Securities and Exchange Board of India Examination

SEBI Grade A

SEBI is without doubt one of the most prestigious institutions in India, and therefore there is no need to explain how prestigious theit is to be posted as a SEBI Grade A officer.

SEBI announced vacancies of Grade A posts annually. They are announced for the following streams:

  • General Stream
  • Legal Stream
  • Information Technology Stream
  • Engineering Stream (Civil & Electrical)
  • Research Stream
  • Official Language Stream

Mode of selection consists of a three-stage process i.e.

SEBI 2021 Phase 1 (Prelims) (on-line screening examination consisting of two papers of 100 marks each)

SEBI 2021 Phase 2 (Mains) (online examination consisting of two papers of 100 marks each)

SEBI 2020 Phase 3 (Interview)

SEBI Salary: 1,07,000
