Starting in September 2024, “classes internationales” (international classes) are designed for Indian students wanting to learn French for a year in France before pursuing the degree of their choice. Excelia is part of the 33 French institutions selected by the French government for this new scheme.

Excelia is welcoming applications for its newly launched “classes internationales” (international classes), a special scheme designed for Indian students who wish to learn French before joining a higher education programme in France. Only 33 French institutions got selected by the French government to participate in this initiative.  The special programme was announced during French President Emmanuel Macron’s State visit to India on the occasion of Republic Day in January this year.

At Excelia, the programme spreads over one full academic year and includes more than 400 hours of classes, of which 65% are dedicated to French as a foreign language and 35% to business and management courses, as well as sessions focussing on experiential learning and personal development. These sessions cover drama classes, methodology lessons, internship search techniques, but also tutoring from former Excelia students, company visits and seminars, personal orientation and support, entrance tests preparation for qualification-awarding programmes and immersion in an Excelia programme of the student’s choice, making that year a deeply enriching experience.

The objective of the “classes internationales” is to bring all the students completing the programme to a B2 level in French, so that they can be admitted in Excelia’s following French taught courses: Bachelor in Business Administration, or Master in Management from Excelia Business School or Bachelor in Tourism and Hospitality from Excelia Tourism School. Students who would prefer continuing their studies in English, could still join the English-taught programmes at Excelia.

To be eligible, candidates must be of 18 years of age or above and possess a French level of A2 by September 1st, 2024. The candidates who would have not reached the A2 level yet can get a conditional admission and prepare the exam at one of the 24 Alliance Françaises centers in India. Lastly, students who already have secured a B1 level have the possibility to join only for a semester.

Bruno Neil, the CEO of Excelia, said: “India has been a priority for Excelia since a few years. After opening an Indian representation office in Mumbai and reinforcing our academic ties with Indian institutions all over the country, we are now proud to open ‘international classes’ and be part of the higher education movement wanted by the French and the Indian government. We are looking forward to hosting and teaching Indian students and being the first step in their academic, personal and professional journey in France”.
