Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology will be organising its 9th convocation ceremony on September 26, 2020, conferring degrees to all the graduate and postgraduate students. To ensure the safety and well-being of the students and staff amid the Coronavirus pandemic, IIIT-Delhi has announced that its 9th convocation ceremony would be conducted on the virtual platform. This ceremony would mark the celebration of the accomplishments, academic excellence, and technical virtuosity of the graduating students.

This year, the institute will be conferring 237 B.Tech., 203 M.Tech., and 2 M.Tech. dual degrees to the students. Besides these, 12 Ph.D. degrees would also be awarded to the doctoral research candidates. To inspire and motivate the graduating students, Professor Joachim Frank, recipient of the 2017 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, would be gracing the convocation ceremony as the chief guest.

IIIT-Delhi has, over the years, established its position as a research-driven institute. In the previous academic year, the faculty members and students have published 370 research papers, which includes 138 journal articles, 153 conference papers, 65 workshop papers. The institute has also been successful in getting 35 research projects sanctioned with a sponsorship of over 17 crores.

The students and faculty of IIIT-Delhi have been actively involved in the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic. By developing the WashKaro app, the institute has been quite successful in raising awareness among the general public about Covid-19 through bite-sized Hindi audios.

The institute’s placement records have been on an upward trend for the past few years with most programs registering 96% to 100% placement. This year, a total of 707 offers were made at the institute, out of which, 414 were for full-time jobs and 293 were internship offers. There has been a significant growth in the number of A+ offers as well.

Because of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Graduating Batch of 2020 has been through many distinctive circumstances. Having to finish the final semester online was certainly an unforeseen challenge but the students have shown exceptional grit and determination in making the best of a very difficult situation. The Convocation Ceremony will be streamed live on the Institute’s YouTube channel and its link will be shared on the institute’s other official social media handles as well.
