Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), recognized as an ‘Institution of Eminence’ (IoE), retained the top honours in the 2024 National Institutional Rankings Framework (NIRF) rankings of the Ministry of Education, Government of India released on August 12. IIT Madras retained its No. 1 ranking in the ‘Overall’ category for the Sixth Consecutive Year and in ‘Engineering’ Category for the Ninth Consecutive Year, right from the first edition of the Rankings in 2016.
Congratulating all the stakeholders, from students to faculty, alumni and non-teaching staff for their hard work that has resulted in such extraordinary performance, Prof. V. Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati has retained #7 position in the ‘Engineering’, #9 in the ‘Overall’ and gained #10 in the ‘Research’ category. The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has been ranked as the best management institute for the fifth consecutive year in the India Rankings 2024. IIM Kozhikode has achieved its career-best Rank #3 for the second consecutive year, continuing its remarkable ascent after breaking into the Top 3 for the first time in 2023, when it displaced older, legacy IIMs. Expressing his delight over this significant achievement, Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director IIMK shared “Congratulations to the entire IIM Kozhikode community for their unwavering commitment to providing world-class management education. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) 4th rank in the university category, making it one of the top 10 universities in the country. MAHE’s position moved to 4th from 6th last year, showing a consistent desire to improve and provide the best quality of education.
In overall India Rankings, MAHE has secured the position in top 20 varsities of the country standing at 14th position. Many of the constituent units of MAHE are also among the top 10 position under various disciplines. In dental category, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal secured 2nd position, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal stood at 8th position in pharmacy and in medical category, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal secured 9th position. Additionally, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore stood at 11th in dental category, MAHE secured 23rd position in research, and Manipal School of Architecture and Planning, Manipal stood at 28th in Architecture.

MDI Gurgaon, has improved its national ranking, securing the 11th position, in the Management category up by two places from the 13th position in 2023. MDI Gurgaon’s perception score also saw a substantial rise, jumping from 21.91 in 2023 to 27.07 in 2024. The Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) metric also saw a positive trend, rising from 68.46 in 2023 to 71.06 in 2024. This shows that MDI is increasing its engagement with businesses and government and that inclusivity is at the core of MDI’s academic pursuits. The Indian Institute of Technology Mandi has secured the 8th position in the Innovation category of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024. IIT Mandi has improved its rankings to #31 in the Engineering category and #72 in the Overall category this year.

It claimed the first rank in dentistry for the third consecutive year, solidifying its leadership in this domain. Furthermore, SIMATS secured impressive positions in other categories: 11th in the University category, 12th in Medical, 13th in Law, 20th in Research, 22nd Overall, 53rd in Engineering, 74th in Management, and 11 /50 in Innovation among institutions. Emerging as a front-runner in higher education, KL Deemed now ranks 22nd among all government and private universities in India this year. In the Overall category, the University now stands at rank 40. The Engineering discipline is now ranking 35. The university has been recognized in the prestigious Band 11-50 in the Innovative category. Er. The Salem-based Sona College of Technology has earned an impressive position in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024 results announced on August 12, 2024, making it the only engineering college in the city—home to two dozen government and private engineering colleges—to achieve this distinction.
In addition to being counted among the top 200 engineering colleges in India, in the 151-200 rank band, the college, established in 1997, has been ranked among the top 50 ‘Innovation Institutes’ within a rank band of 11-50. It stands alongside well-known institutions such as the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, and the National Institutes of Technology at Calicut, Dhanbad, Ropar, and Varanasi, among others.
