Maav Industries Ltd is a Mangalore-headquartered enterprise that converts post-use plastic into durable, reusable products, contributing actively to India’s circular economy. In a step that combines education support with sustainable innovation, the company has donated 50 recycled-plastic chairs to the Government School in Kakke Padavu, Karnataka, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. The initiative not only strengthens classroom infrastructure but also highlights how waste can be transformed into valuable community assets.

The contribution is significant for the school, where seating capacity directly impacts student comfort, attendance, and participation. By providing furniture manufactured from recycled plastic, Maav demonstrates how its circular manufacturing system can address both environmental challenges and community needs. India generates more than 3.4 million tons of plastic waste annually, and nearly 60% of it is inadequately managed. Against this backdrop, initiatives like these showcase the potential of localized recycling-led solutions.

The handover ceremony was attended by Head Mistress Vishalalakshmi, faculty, students, and three of Maav’s directors — Ms. Asha, Mr. Atul, and Mr. Shrinidhi. The chairs were manufactured at Maav’s facilities in Mangalore, which currently recycle over 225 tons of post-consumer plastic waste every month, with a target of 10,000 tons annually by 2030.

“Our CSR initiatives are guided by the belief that sustainability must go hand in hand with social impact. By donating chairs manufactured from recycled plastic, we are supporting education while showcasing how responsible recycling can create everyday utility,” said Mr. Madhusudhan Agalpady, Founder and Managing Director, Maav Industries Ltd.

Expressing her gratitude, Head Mistress Vishalalakshmi of the Government School, Kakke Padavu, said: “This contribution has come at the right time. Having 50 additional chairs will directly improve comfort and participation for our students, and it is encouraging to see a local company like Maav Industries support education in such a meaningful, sustainable way.”

This donation forms part of Maav’s broader CSR framework, which emphasizes education, community welfare, and environmental sustainability. As the company scales its recycling capacity, it aims to expand CSR initiatives that reinforce both environmental responsibility and regional progress, ensuring that its growth translates into lasting social impact.
