Sharda University’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences and Bharatiya Sanskriti Vaishvik Kendra are holding a 3-day International Conference on Science, Spirituality, and Health to look at how all three can be brought together to benefit the mankind in contemporary scenario of mental health issues.

The conference was inaugurated by Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, on Feb 27 along with Dr. Indresh Kumar, Senior Member, Pracharak, and National Executive Member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS); Deepak Singhal, former chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh; Abhijit Haldar, Director General of the International Buddhist Confederation, Ministry of Culture, Dr. Jagveer Singh, Chancellor of Central University of Punjab, and Professor Ajay Yajnik. They were warmly welcomed by the PK Gupta, Chancellor of Sharda University; YK Gupta Pro Chancellor, and, Dr. Sibaramb Khara, Vice Chancellor.

In his address, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat stated that science, spirituality, and health are three crucial elements interwoven into the different aspects of human life. Despite the remarkable progress made in science, human life still faces numerous challenges. Even with various discoveries and research aimed at alleviating these challenges, humans continue to seek satisfaction. Over the last three centuries, scientific advancements have indeed made life easier, but the level of dissatisfaction is increasing. The integration of these elements—science, spirituality, and health—is crucial for addressing this concern. The day the question “What am I?” arises, spirituality begins, and science starts its journey. He thanked the university authorities for hosting such an important themed event.

PK Gupta, Chancellor of Sharda University, emphasized that this transformative academic program seeks to bring together scholars, physicians, researchers, and spiritual leaders from around the world to explore the powerful interconnections between science, spirituality, and health. He highlighted that such programs will benefit students and stressed the university’s commitment to organizing more such events in the future.

Saying that India’s spirituality is unparalleled, Dr. Indresh Kumar talked about India’s legacy in spirituality . “Our nation prioritizes ethics and spirituality. Science and spirituality are two distinct aspects, each with its own significance. A good society is a blend of both, as both have their relevance.”
