Prof Krishna Kumar, one of India’s most respected & eminent professor of education who has been the most celebrated director of NCERT today questioned the legitimacy of ASER Reports that have become a part of narrative on the state of poor quality of school education and are refereed to/quoted from most frequently even by government officers. He questioned the poor quality of data collection, methodology, surveyors etc and the reports being never put for academic review. He added this a fraudulent way of preventing government from spending on government schools because these reports show that despite investment there is no improvement in education quality.
