Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), in association with the Refrigeration & Air-conditioning Servicing Sector Society (RASSS), launched its first pilot training program on “Good Service Practices in the Refrigeration & Air-conditioning Sector” at the newly developed Common Utility Center (CUC) in Bhiwadi on October 6.

The one-day program marked the beginning of training activities at the state-of-the-art CUC, a multi-skill facility established to strengthen India’s Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) ecosystem. Around 50 participants, including service technicians, professionals, and trainees from various organizations, attended the program.

Expert trainers from ESSCI and RASSS conducted sessions aimed at improving service quality, promoting energy efficiency, and encouraging the adoption of safe and sustainable practices in the RAC sector. The participants were later awarded joint certificates by both organizations for successfully completing the training. Members of the Ozone Cell from the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) also honored the occasion with their presence.

Speaking on the occasion, Saleem Ahmed, Officiating Head of the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), said, “The Common Utility Center is a landmark step toward bridging the industry-skill gap. Through collaborations like this, we aim to bring global service standards to the Indian workforce and support the country’s transition toward sustainable and energy-efficient technologies.”

He added, “We envision the CUC as a hub for advanced, multi-domain skill development across the ESDM spectrum from semiconductors and embedded systems to renewable energy. Our goal is to provide industry-ready training that equips youth and professionals with practical, future-oriented skills.”

The CUC is equipped with advanced laboratories, simulation setups, and hands-on training facilities, along with a 120-seater residential hostel to support both short-term and long-duration programs. It is designed to serve as a comprehensive training platform for students, trainers, and industry professionals.

The collaboration between ESSCI and RASSS aims to create a scalable, industry-aligned skilling model. Training modules are tailored to evolving industry demands, ensuring participants gain practical expertise with access to cutting-edge infrastructure. The facility is also open to engineering colleges, ITIs, and polytechnics for practical exposure, industry projects, and internships.

Additionally, the CUC provides an ideal setup for corporate social responsibility (CSR)-based skilling initiatives, allowing organizations to contribute to workforce development. Joint certifications from ESSCI and its partner organizations further enhance the employability and credibility of trained candidates.

With this initiative, ESSCI has taken a decisive step toward creating a collaborative ecosystem involving industry, academia, and government institutions, setting a new benchmark in skill development for India’s electronics and allied sectors.
