55 students from the undergraduate and postgraduate programs of Pune-based FLAME University will support the global WageIndicator system from the current academic year. This cooperation is the primary outcome of an agreement between FLAME University and WageIndicator Foundation of the Netherlands which led to setting up of the WageIndicator Research Lab at FLAME.

WageIndicator Foundation operates websites with wage and labour market information for over 40 million yearly users in 125 countries. All 55 students will be interns for WageIndicator. This internship will provide them with a platform to learn and upgrade skills needed to convert data into easy to read mini-stories for web visitors and mobile phone users, creating stills, graphs and videos. They will develop management skills, data analysis skills, data visualization skills, and also learn about data and web journalism, content management, google analytics, and SEO.

Students will assist in targeting different occupational groups in India and abroad with tailor-made wage and labour law information.
Stressing on the importance of truly global perspectives, PaulienOsse, Founder and Director, WageIndicator Foundation said, “We are on our way to becoming truly global. We plan operations in another 25 countries till the end of 2019, reaching out to the working people of 150 countries. The assistance of FLAME is most welcome and makes our aim more realistic.”

“The internship provides an opportunity for FLAME students to gain practical experience in real-life research initiatives. While working on software like STATA, SPSS, Tableau, PLONE, and Google Analytics, they will collaborate with the global team of WageIndicator and observe their culture and management styles”, said Prof. Rupa Korde, Faculty of Economics, FLAME University, who has worked closely with PaulienOsse to set up this cooperation.

Dr. DishanKamdar, Vice Chancellor, FLAME University stated, “We want to be a niche player of international repute. The specialized input WageIndicator offers, promises to contribute to that goal. Its innovative methods and potential of global outreach are found attractive by our students. They massively volunteered to participate in the WageIndicator Research Lab at FLAME.”
